Welcome To One Big Tent

Online Recovery From Addiction All Under One Flexible Roof

In Secular AA, no matter what your beliefs, you can recover.

Secular AA is a movement within Alcoholics Anonymous that seeks to widen our gateway so that all who suffer may pass through and find long-term sobriety in AA regardless of their belief or lack of belief in a god. Discover more about Secular AA by exploring the links below. We want everyone to benefit from their recovery journey without having to accept anyone ele's beliefs or deny their own. We constantly update this page, but if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, please feel free to get in touch with us – we will be more than happy to help.

This is an entirely voluntary program. We will share with you our experience, strength and hope, and tell you about some of the things that have helped us stay sober. We will offer suggestions that you are free to accept or reject. Many of us have learned to rely on a God of our understanding to help us through difficult times. This does not have to be the God that someone else tried to tell you about. It need not be an external God but instead, it could be an entity or force that you can sense within you and relate to, and you can appeal to for guidance and strength.

Our mission is to assure suffering alcoholics that they can find sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous without having to accept anyone else’s beliefs or deny their own. Secular AA does not endorse or oppose any form of religion or belief system and operates in accordance with the Third Tradition of the Alcoholics Anonymous Program: “the only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking.”

In the Introduction to this highly contested and debated, yet ultimately conference approved AA pamphlet The "God" Word , Agnostic and Atheist Members in A.A. solidifies AA's long argued stance that it "is not a religious organization." Ten agnostic/atheist members share their experience of finding meaningful recovery in AA, showing there is room in the Fellowship for believers and non-believers alike.

Join us for the in-person International Conference of Secular AA 2024! Held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort on International Drive in Orlando, Florida, this exciting event will bring together alcoholics from around the world who are passionate about secular recovery in AA.

A space for AA agnostics, atheists and freethinkers worldwide.

AA Agnostica is meant to be a helping hand for the alcoholic who reaches out to Alcoholics Anonymous for help and finds that she or he is disturbed by the religious content of many AA meetings.

AA Agnostica is not affiliated with any group in AA or any other organization.

Contributors to the AA Agnostica website are all members of Alcoholics Anonymous, unless otherwise indicated. The views they express are neither their groups’ nor those of AA, but solely their own.

Stonehenge AA Freethinkers is an international secular online community of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) which operates in accordance with the Third Tradition of the Alcoholics Anonymous Program ‘the only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking’.

We recognize that not everyone believes in a god or even a higher power; we have created a safe place for people to express themselves regardless of their world views, beliefs, religion, spiritual experiences or rejection of them.

Our meetings have no religion, no prayer – just those gathering together for support and sobriety.
